Scientist by training, creative spirit by choice. I use photography to show the world the way I see it — with a creative eye.
I develop my digital images as I did with film in the darkroom times. I look for the aesthetics of colors, textures and shapes. I tend to focus on the two main subjects I encounter while traveling: landscapes and people.
I also enjoy combining photography and design elements, especially typography. You can see some of that in my Album art/Book covers project.
Please also visit my noteslog where I sporadically re-blog inspirational art done by others and write spurious notes.
See the pic in the zapalote logo (the circle and the cross)? It's a graphical representation of what photographers do in modern photography: press the shutter half way first to get the focus right, then move the camera to get the right composition.
One more thing ... I like to travel and can't go anywhere without my cameras. I enjoy putting together old fashioned, but beautiful travel books. In case you are interested, you can find them here.
A big thanks to my daughters Davina and Zoé for the essential critique. The entrance page uses the Vegas plugin developed by Jay Salvat
